    Chiropractic Manipulation While Under Anesthesia

Many people find relief from pain through chiropractic, for those that cannot under normal circumstances find this relief that others are fortunate to experience they may consider manipulation under anesthesia. Manipulation under anesthesia is utilized when patients do not respond to normal treatment, or cannot tolerate that may be pain associated with the treatment due to their condition.

In a process designed to break up adhesions and scar tissue in the spine and local tissues, a combination of specified manipulation specific of short-lever, passive stretching and specific citing of weight bearing kinesthetic maneuvers are used in spinal manipulation under anesthesia.

    Differing levels of anesthesia

There are three different methods of anesthesia used for this procedure, the first, the least “invasive”, involves manipulation after the patient has had certain anesthetic solutions injected into specific regions and tissues of the spine. During this type of treatment the patient is awake and alert as normal, but the area (s) being manipulated are in effect numbed so as to not cause the patient discomfort during the procedure. You may have heard of this type of anesthesia being referred to as a “local” or “local anesthesia” which means that it is confined to a specific area.

Gout Causes and the Different Treatment Procedures

Diseases are a part and parcel of our life; most of the people on the earth are suffering from some diseases or the other. For prevention or curing a disease one must know the cause of the disease and the symptoms of the disease. For better treatment better knowledge about the disease is required. Gout is caused due to the excess uric acid present in the body. This uric acid crystallizes in the joints and in the tissues. It causes irritation, inflammation of the joints and intense pain. The most affected part is the big toe; other affected parts are the knees, elbows, ankle and wrist.

Gout causes extreme pain to the patients and makes moving around impossible. The pain is unbearable so immediate treatment is a necessity. The chance of getting gout is more if the blood contains large amount of uric acid. In general individual above the age of 30 have higher chances of getting affected by the disease. people who have a family history of gout, obese people, people with higher intake of alcohol and other carbonated beverages, people consuming red meat and people who smoke regularly. Gout can be caused by natural process and also due to the side effects of some medication.

Basic Treatment of Neuroma and the Role of ESWT

When you feel pain in the ball of your foot, you are most likely suffering from Morton’s neuroma. This is a condition wherein the nerve that leads to the toes becomes swollen or thickened. In some cases, it may feel like stinging pain, numbness, burning in the ball of the foot, or you may feel like you are standing on a marble or a pebble.

Usually, there are no visible signs of neuroma because this is not really a tumor. Morton’s neuroma is a response to injury, irritation, or pressure to any of the nerves that lead to your toes. Because of this, the nerve tissues in the area become thickened. Over time, the pain increases with activity or when wearing shoes.

Wearing high heeled shoes, very tight shoes, or any pressure on the toes appear to increase the probability of developing neuroma. People who are active in sports that involve running or jumping are also at greater risk because of the constant pressure that is placed on the feet and toes. Other contributing factors are having bunions, flatfeet, and other foot deformities.

A Natural Way of Relieving Body Aches and Pain

Patients with neck pain, back pain, sciatica and other musculoskeletal conditions seek care from health professionals including MD’s, Physical Therapists, DO’s and chiropractors. Unfortunately most miss an important type of therapy to help correct the cause of the problem. Medical doctors usually just prescribe medications that at best mask the pain, but the underlying cause of the problem remains and progressively gets worse, while there is always a huge risk of medication side effects. Doctors of Osteopathy usually take the same path, but might do some minor manipulation. Physical therapists usually will perform some passive therapies like electric stimulation, ultrasound or laser. Chiropractors take a more active approach at correcting the underlying cause by adjusting the spine to remove the pressure on the nerves.

In the 13 years I’ve been in practice, I find one of the most important steps in correcting the problem is addressing the tight muscles that support the spine and mechanics of the body. Every day we are putting stress into the body, causing the muscles to not only tighten up, but to be out of balance: from slouching at a desk while working on a computer, to carrying a pocket book or briefcase on the same shoulder on a daily basis, talking on the phone with your head tilted to one side, playing sports and working out, the list goes on and on.
